The fixture list for the new season at McMullen Park has been announced for Real Bedford Ladies, who are set to embark on their journey in Step Four of the national pyramid for the first time. This comes after a triumphant league success last season.

A Historic Promotion

Real Bedford Ladies clinched the Eastern Region Women’s Football League title by a six-point margin over Luton Town last season, securing their promotion to National League Division One South East. Their impressive performance has set high expectations as they prepare to face some formidable opponents in their new division.

Facing Top-Tier Teams

The twelve-team division boasts big names such as Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers, and Cambridge United. This significant challenge will require Real Bedford Ladies to bring their best to the pitch consistently. Despite the tough competition, the team aims to secure a strong position in the higher echelons of the league table.

New Leadership and Squad Enhancements

To aid them in this ambitious goal, Peter McCormack has appointed former MK Dons manager Charlie Bill. Bill has not only brought his extensive experience but also several players from MK Dons, creating a formidable new-look squad at McMullen Park. With Bill's strategic leadership, the team is enthusiastic about taking on the more seasoned teams in the league.

Exciting Fixtures Ahead

Real Bedford Ladies will kick off their league season on Sunday, 18th August, hosting Ashford Town (Middlesex) at McMullen Park. They will close out August with an away match against the London Bees.

Among the most anticipated fixtures is their match against Norwich City, a team that lost only one league game last season. Despite their strong form, Norwich City's seven draws hindered their promotion chances, making them a formidable opponent this season.

The league campaign concludes with a challenging away game against Cambridge United on Sunday, 27th April. The season will also see Real Bedford competing in the FA Cup, aiming to surpass last season's remarkable run to the First Round Proper. They were previously knocked out by Billericay Town of step three.

Cup Competitions to Navigate

Beyond the league, Real Bedford Ladies will also participate in the League Cup and the County Cup. These competitions add to an already busy schedule, but they provide additional opportunities for the team to showcase their prowess and continue their ascent in the English football pyramid.
