Former Bedford Girls’ School pupil, Revée Walcott-Nolan, is set to compete in her second Olympic Games this weekend in Paris. This marks another significant milestone in the promising career of the talented athlete, who has shown remarkable dedication and perseverance on her journey to the global stage.

Joining an Elite Lineup

Revée, who graduated from Bedford Girls’ School in 2013, will join a star-studded Team GB lineup that includes some of the biggest names in athletics. Amongst these are Olympic, World, and European medallists such as Keely Hodgkinson, Josh Kerr, and Laura Muir. The inclusion of such high-caliber athletes emphasises the prestige and competitiveness of the team that Great Britain is fielding this year.

Chasing Times and Breaking Barriers

Revée will compete in the 1500m event against some of the world’s best athletes after beating the qualifying time for Paris, set at 4:02.50, on three occasions this season. Her first qualifying time was recorded at the recent Golden Spike event in Ostrava, where she clocked 4:02.32. Her performance showcases not only her raw talent but also her capability to perform under pressure and achieve elite standards.

The silver medalist at the British Championships competed in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Reflecting on her experience, Revée said: “I learned a lot in my first Olympics, especially about how small the margins are when racing at that level. I made a few tactical errors in my heat, which is something I’ve been working on improving ever since.”

Training for Excellence

Since the Tokyo Olympics, Revée has been training with the ON group of professional distance runners, honing her skills at altitude in South Africa and Switzerland. This rigorous training regimen demonstrates her commitment to continuous improvement and her relentless pursuit of athletic excellence.

Support and Pride from Bedford Girls' School

Bedford Girls’ School expressed immense pride in Revée’s achievements and extended their best wishes as she aims for glory in Paris. Her dedication and hard work continue to inspire students and the entire school community, reinforcing the values of perseverance and excellence.

A Unique Opening Ceremony

Paris 2024, the XXXIII Olympiad, begins tomorrow morning (Saturday) after tonight’s highly anticipated opening ceremony in Paris. For the first time, the opening ceremony will take place outside a stadium. Instead, athletes will arrive by boat and cruise down the Seine, passing by historic Paris landmarks, including the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral and the Louvre. This innovative approach promises to be a spectacular start to the games.

As the world watches, we wish Revée Walcott-Nolan and all the athletes the very best in their pursuits of Olympic dreams.
